Waste Streams

The Challenge

Kathmandu's new purpose-built HQ in the Innovation Precinct of Christchurch aimed for a 5 Green Star rating. They needed a waste management system that matched their brand's deep commitment to sustainability and could service over 200 staff in a modern, open environment.

The Solution

Method recycling stations were chosen for their aesthetic appeal and functional design. Placed prominently in open spaces, they complemented the building's architectural intent while providing clear, color-coded separation for waste streams.

The Impact

The building achieved its 5 Green Star design rating. The Method bins played a crucial role in the operational waste management plan, helping Kathmandu walk the talk of their brand values within their own headquarters.

Aligned Values

For a brand like Kathmandu, sustainability isn't an add-on; it's the core. Their HQ needed to reflect this. Method's bins provided a physical touchpoint for these values, visible to every employee and visitor every day.

Green Star Achievement

Achieving a 5 Green Star rating requires rigorous attention to detail, including operational waste. Method's system provided the necessary infrastructure to meet these high standards, proving that functional waste management can also be beautiful.

We wanted a solution that didn't just hide waste, but managed it. Method bins fit perfectly with our design and sustainability goals.
